One Faith – One Family – One Future Capital Campaign kicks off!
Sept. 9-10 marks the official kick of our One Faith – One Family – One Future capital campaign! Information packets for every family in our parish and school communities (apart from volunteers and others who made early pledges) are being made available after Masses this weekend. Any packets remaining after this weeked will be mailed to households.
The packets will include a case statement and a request for a financial gift to the campaign. As grateful as we are for some major gifts we’ve already received, please know that participation is crucial also. We want everyone to participate at whatever level you can. This is a parish-wide project, and it will take gifts of all sizes to reach our goal!
Also, some of the packets will include a pledge card and return envelope. Others will not. If yours doesn’t, you will be contacted soon by a campaign volunteer – we’re calling them “ambassadors” – to set up a personal visit. PLEASE welcome whoever contacts you and set up a time to visit with them. It will take only a short time. I have asked them to make these visits, and I would appreciate you making time for them.
Of course, we’d love to visit with every one of you personally about your gift to share the plans in more detail and answer your questions. We only have so many volunteers, and they’ve selected as many households as they can manage to visit between now and the end of the campaign in January.
When you get your request letter, know that the amount requested is NOT an expectation. It is an invitation to participate at whatever level you can. You know your situation best, and we will be grateful for whatever you prayerfully decide to do.
“No one shall appear before the Lord empty-handed, but each of you with as much as you can give, in proportion to the blessings which the Lord God has bestowed on you.” Deuteronomy 16:16-17

One Faith – One Family – One Future Campaign kicks off in one week!
After months of intensive preparation, we are close to the official kickoff of Our Lady of Lourdes’ and St. John Vianney’s One Faith – One Family – One Future capital campaign. Every family in our parish and school communities (apart from volunteers and others who made early pledges) will receive a packet of information that includes a financial request and instructions on how to invest in the future of the Bettendorf Catholic community.
In advance of the mailing, we want to express several thoughts regarding this campaign and what is being asked of our families:
- Invitation, not Expectation
Every school & parish family will be asked to consider a specific commitment to the campaign. We have gone through an exhaustive process to determine an appropriate request for each family. That said, in some cases our request may be too high. In some cases, it may be too low. It is not an expectation. It is an invitation – and the starting point for your personal discernment. Ultimately, the parish will gratefully receive whatever gifts you may provide.
In advance of the request, I ask that you spend some time reflecting on what our planned St Joan of Arc Catholic School means for future evangelism, and how you can help. Pray and ask the Lord for guidance. The path that leads us to our gift decision doesn’t start on Wall Street, nor does it lead us to Easy Street. Christ calls us to journey with him to the cross, to lay down our lives. He challenges us to give him our hearts before we give from our hearts. So, please, take every opportunity you can to PRAY about your gift decision and give in a way that represents the blessings that God has given you.
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (2 Cor. 9:7-8).
