Campaign Volunteers Needed

For more years than many would believe, there has been much discussion and discernment about the future of the Catholic community here in Bettendorf. Our Lady of Lourdes has had to make some demanding decisions regarding the upkeep of the school, its infrastructure, ADA compliance and increasing enrollment.

Considering 1) the enormous cost of renovating the school, 2) the tremendous population growth in the NE part of Bettendorf, and 3) the needs of the diocese (with fewer and fewer priests), Bishop Zinkula has asked the entire Bettendorf Catholic community to come together in collaboration and support to build a new Catholic school and eventually a combined new Catholic church in NE Bettendorf.

Ever since our campaign planning study last fall, that’s exactly what our two parishes have been doing—collaborating and building support! Since last November, we’ve been working with the Steier Group to lay the foundation for our One Faith – One Family – One Future Capital Campaign, an ambitious effort to fund construction of St. Joan of Arc Catholic School and meet our respective parish commitments to the diocesan Upon This Rock campaign in support of seminarians and retired priests. We’ve also been working with Bray Architects to refine the plans for the new school, preschool and childcare facility.

More recently, our campaign committee, which is made up of members of OLOL and SJV, has been busy in what is recognized as “the quiet phase” of our campaign, asking for larger donations. We are now just a few weeks away from closing this portion of the effort and announcing a stellar beginning to the next as we open the process to all of OLOL and SJV.

To conduct a successful effort, we must assemble a strong volunteer team to reach out to parish and school families. I am thankful for the many volunteers who have been hard at work these past few months and for those who have already said “Yes!” to helping us in the months ahead. But we need more! We have over 3,000 families between our two parishes. To reach out to each family is and will be a daunting task in which we’ll need your help and support. If you would like to help, please say “Yes!” when asked, or contact our Campaign Manager, Tim Voss (

Please consider lending your talent to this important cause. You can help make a difference for the Bettendorf Catholic community and the lives of generations to come!
